About Us

Thank you for choosing Central Ohio Counseling & Wellness! We are a group of mental health professionals who strive to provide welcoming, compassionate, effective and dignified care to our community. Central Ohio Counseling & Wellness (formerly known as Central Ohio Counseling, Inc.) was founded in 1985 by Dr. Wilmer K. Furuta. Dr. Furuta’s vision was to provide quality mental health services in a private setting. We offer a variety of services from counseling/therapy to medication management.

We are currently offering "in office" and "telehealth" appointments to new and existing clients (including children and adolescents).

If you are interested in scheduling a new patient appointment please call our office and request a patient portal invitation to fill out new patient paperwork. You will also need to email us a photo of the front & back of your insurance card and your photo ID. Once we've received all of these documents we will reach out to you to set up your first appointment.

Dedicated to Excellence

We hold ourselves to a high level of excellence in every aspect of our practice. This includes the care we provide, the equipment we use, the health and safety protocols we follow, and the incidental services we offer. Above all, our aim is to provide each of our patients with an optimal counseling experience.

Experienced Physicians & Counselors

Every one of our providers has completed extensive education and clinical training as well as specialized training in their area(s) of expertise. They are board-certified professionals who hold memberships and fellowships in many professional organizations. Driven to constantly improve their knowledge and the services they provide, our physicians frequently attend conferences and society meetings to learn about the latest advancements in the field and offer these techniques and technologies to our patients. In all of these ways and more, we are able to provide our patients with the highest quality of care.

The Importance of Patient Education

A key part of preventing a healthcare problem from progressing is being aware as to how they can develop. We strongly believe that patient education is an important part of the services we provide. In addition to talking with our patients during their exams, we have a ready supply of patient education materials such as brochures and information sheets in our office. We encourage our patients to read about their condition and ask us questions about how to stay healthy.

Thank you for choosing us to be your mental healthcare providers!
